When you think of high-end studios where you can record, mix, master
and edit audio/video/film in the Big Apple, a handful of major names
come to mind with Sony leading the pack.
Scope of services
offered at Sony is indeed wide; but, as manager Michael Catandella
points out: "every project gets personal attention and care
while leveraging the broad services avaialble to you all under one
roof."

Sony Music Studios
is a state-of-the-art recording arts facility opened in June, 1993
on Manhattan's West Side and is the first of its kind to be built
and operated by a major music entertainment company.

Sony's 55-room
complex (five floors) is a center where artists can develop projects
and exchange ideas. The facility also serves as Sony's archival
work including the digital conversion of a library totaling over
500,000 recordings spanning more than 100 years.
Engineer Brian Malouf Going For The Green Knob
The facility
features numerous digital on-line and off-line video editing suites,
multiple mastering suites, seven recording studios, and a 94 feet
x 75 feet soundstage, which is one of the largest and most technologically
advanced production spaces in Manhattan.
The entire facility
has been wired to enable any combination of analog and digital routing;
rooms can be cross-linked to serve artists' creative needs.
According to
Catandella some
of the record production community may not be as familiar with Sony's
mastering services. Most recently David Kutch (formerly of Masterdisk)
has joined Sony Music Studios as a mastering engineer.
Dave is widely
respected by the label and creative communities for his expert abilities
in both the rock and urban arenas. Past clients include: Rod Stewart,
Cassidy, Outkast, Lil' Bow Wow, Whitney Houston, Kelly Clarkson,
Nelly, Sarah McLachlan, Jaheim, St. Lunatics, Pete Rock, Mario,
Ray Cash, Eamon, Foreign Exchange, L.E.G.A.C.Y., and Pistol Pete.
Dave has also recently 5.1 Mastered Rod Stewart, New YorkDolls,
Iron Maiden and Dream Theatre.
Prior to joining
Masterdisk, Dave worked with Herb Powers of Powers House of Sound
since 1997. At Powers, Dave worked on records for Biggie, Mase,
Puff Daddy, Toni Braxton, Jill Scott, Missy Elliot and Will Smith.
David Kutch
"We are proud to have Dave join us and look forward to guiding
his career as one of the best talents in the industry," commented
Brian McKenna VP, Audio Operations & Marketing. "Based
on the clients he has already worked with, we feel this is a perfect
fit for Sony Music Studios," adds Andy Kadison, Senior VP Sony
Music Studios, "The studio landscape has changed drastically
over the past couple of years, but what never goes out of style
is talent. We believe Dave Kutch is one of the best guys anywhere,
and we're thrilled to have him."
