40th
Anniversay of The first Film ever made on the Armenian Genocide
In
2005 AFF will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the documentary,
"Where Are My People?" directed and produced Michael
J Hagopian. Aired on KCOP in 1965, this film inspired activities
and research by author Dickran Boyajian (his book The Case
for the forgotten Genocide, which was released in 1973)
and later valuable research and work by Profs. Hovanissian
and Dadrian. The 1975 production of the two seminal and definitive
documentaries "The Forgotten Genocide" and "the
Armenian Case" followed. Quote by Michael here.....

Germany & The Secret Genocide in Los Angeles
The
World premiere on
May 15, 2003 drew community leaders and film enthusiasts alike
The screening at the beautiful Academy of Television Arts
and Sciences in North Hollywood was followed by a silent auction
and reception.The Armenian Film Foundation
also hosted a press screening
at the Eastman Kodak Screening Room
of Germany and the Secret Genocide for reporters
on April 24, 2003. This date coninsided with the 88th annual
commemoration of the Genocide. The premiere was sponsored
by the George Ignatius Foundation, which was created by the
late Armenian benefactor to promote Armenian history and culture.

Germany
and the Secret Genocide was directed and produced by
Emmy-nominee Dr. J. Michael Hagopian. He utilizes emotional
videotaped interviews with Genocide survivors and witnesses,
rare German documents and letters and expert interviews to
relate this horrific event.
This
film was designed as a memorial for those who lost their lives
in the Genocide and to inspire and educate Armenians living
outside of the country about their culture and the history
of their ancestors, said Hagopian. Part of that
commitment means telling the truth about history, including
the fact that Germany looked the other way as millions were
slaughtered simply because they needed Turkeys support
during the war.
Germany
and the Secret Genocide is the second installment in
the Armenian Film Foundations Witnesses
trilogy. As part of the project, the Armenian-born director
has filmed almost 400 eyewitness interviews throughout the
world, capturing their accounts of the Armenian Genocide.
Of the 11 people featured in Germany and the Secret
Genocide, only one is still alive.
