Brad
Buxer
Keyboardist,
producer, arranger/composer and engineer

American keyboardist, composer, producer, and musical director, known for his extensive work with Michael Jackson from 1989 to 2008. Buxer participated in all of Michael Jackson's studio albums starting with Dangerous and was an essential part of Jackson's live band, serving as musical director for the second leg of the Dangerous Tour and the HIStory Tour.
After graduating from Arizona State University in 1980, Buxer joined the new wave band The Jetzons until 1983, when he moved to Los Angeles to join Matthew Wilder's band. It was at this time that he met Stevie Wonder through Gary Olazabal, Wonder's producer. Buxer worked with Wonder throughout the latter half of the 1980s, both in the studio and live, in addition to working as a session musician for various artists.
In mid-1989, during the recording of what would eventually become Dangerous, Buxer joined the project through Bill Bottrell. He was initially hired as a technician but later contributed keyboards, synthesizers, percussion, and programming to the tracks “Jam,” “Heal The World,” “Black or White,” “Who Is It,” “Give In To Me,” “Will You Be There,” and “Dangerous.” From that point on, Buxer developed a close working relationship with Jackson, being hired by Jackson in 1993 to work on the soundtrack for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. He later collaborated with Michael Jackson on the 1995 double album "HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I," the 1997 remix album "Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix," and the 2001 album "Invincible." He continued working on various unreleased songs with Jackson until early 2008.
Mr Buxer appeared in a seminar on August of 2026 In The Studio With MJ, organized by Brad Sundberg, also featuring engineer Matt Forger. He offered stories behind Jackson's hits and their long musical collaboration.
